Making a smooth transition from its static comic strip form to an animated series on Adult Swim, "The Boondocks" continues to stir controversy. Created by Aaron McGruder, "The Boondocks" is an Afro-centric show based around the Freeman family. Grandad Freeman (the ultimate disciplinarian) moves his two grandkids Huey (an avid pessimist and political activist), and Riley (the younger brother who aspires to achieve gangster status) from the southside of Chicago to a predominately white (and wealthy) suburb called Woodcrest. Woodcrest turns out to be more than a boring, white suburb. Just one of the people found in the neighborhood happens to be crazy Uncle Ruckus, a black man who is constantly spouting his white supremist ideals to anyone who will listen.
Although this show is not only hilarious, and very intelligently written (there are many incredible "hidden" references to current politics and African American culture and its history) this is not a politically correct show, and they make no attempts at trying to make it as such.
